I was born and raised in St. Louis *gasp*, but I have called Kansas City home since graduating from college in 2015. Speaking of college, I met my husband during my freshman year at Missouri State University in Springfield—Go Bears! He was a cute soccer player down the road at Drury University, and as cliché as it may sound, I knew he was the one for me the day I met him. Fourteen years later, I still have no doubt.
For eight years, we were the proud parents of a very spoiled French Bulldog, Kaci. Then, in March 2023, we became a family of four when our sweet little girl, Scottlyn Sloane, arrived!
I know someone will ask, so I’ll start by letting you know that KC Moms Club is not all that I do. Four years ago, I decided to walk away from my career in the wedding and events industry to start my own business. I am now the proud owner of a Virtual Assistant business, where I work with influencers, content creators, and small businesses to take on the tasks they don’t have time for (Yes, I still work 40+ hours a week. No, I don’t have standard “benefits”. Yes, I had to save up for my own maternity leave. No, I don’t regret starting my own business—I love it!).
Ever since I was a little girl, I have always been social. Sometimes a little toooo social for my teachers and coaches’ liking, but hey, I turned out alright! I was involved in Girl Scouts and sports teams in elementary school, was student council president in middle school, and in high school, I led the charge on almost anything I could—cheerleading, soccer, after-school clubs, the MC of our school assemblies—you name it, I wanted to be a part of it. While all of that might not mean much to you, I share it so you can understand that after high school, I pretty much just dropped all of my ‘groups’ and went out into the big world. It wasn’t like I decided one day that I wasn’t going to be a part of any organizations—it just kind of happened. College and a career became my ‘thing’.
To summarize… I am married, a dog mom, have 1 daughter, I talk A LOT, will act like we have been friends forever after the first time we chat, am a born leader, and I want to make a difference in the KC community! So…what questions do you have for me?
And then…in 2023, I became a mom to a 7lb 12oz beautiful baby girl!I quickly realized I was yearning for a sense of community again. I wanted to be surrounded by like-minded people who wanted to talk about the good, the bad, the weird, and the overwhelm. I have my friends, and we are very close (literally all had our babies within six months of each other), but there was something about getting to hang out with a group of moms who are outside of my personal ‘bubble’ that made me jump into this opportunity as soon as it was presented to me! I have big goals for KC Moms Club. First was creating this website! Next is completing the KC Moms Club directory. From there, I hope to plan more events, sell merch, host group volunteering events with local charities, organize an Annual Mom Garage Sale, host a Christmas gift event for the less fortunate, and so. much. more!
